I have known Sam Stevenson for the last three years as his baseball coach. From these experiences, I can say with confidence that he is a dedicated athlete who leads others by setting a strong example with his effort and intensity on the playing field, and off.
Sam is a gifted athlete that currently competes at a high level in baseball and ice hockey. He has a very strong work ethic, and is constantly striving to be the best possible. His work ethic is one of the strongest I have seen. Sam has excellent knowledge of game. He reacts well to situational play and can adapt well in pressure situations.
As a catcher, Sam has come a long way. He shows great potential behind the plate and will be a starter for us on the Premier Eagles this season, as a Grade 10. This is an exceptional achievement as the team is comprised of players from Grades 10-12. He will also be involved in some capacity with our Elite Baseball BC Program, most likely with the Grad 2014 team.
Sam is very respectful of the game, coaches and officials. He makes a good teammate and is able to support the team in any manner he can. He puts in 100% while on field. So far, Sam is a very quiet athlete. He goes about his game and play in a respectful and classy manner. His leadership skills are developing and will become prominent as he gets older and more mature.
Sam’s goal is to become a college athlete, while striving to get a good post-secondary education. Throughout the time I have known Sam, he has displayed the moral character, discipline, organization and commitment necessary to become a successful student-athlete at the next level. He would be an asset both athletically and academically to the IGNITE program. If you have any questions about Sam please contact me at your convenience."
No matter where Sam is, he is well liked and respected by his peers, teachers and coaches. His smile is larger than life and can warm an entire room. He has fun regardless of what he's doing and he genuinely cares about others. Because of this, people enjoy being in his presence and gravitate towards him.
Sam is an incredibly talented athlete who I'm confident is going to do great things. He acts like a sponge during our weekly sport school seminars and is open to trying anything that could make him a better athlete. He understands that it's about the journey not the destination. He works hard during the IGNITE portion of our program and has made incredible gains. His PE teachers and coaches rave about how rewarding it is to work with such a coach-able, gifted athlete.
Sam comes from a very athletic family who he is very proud of. He is extremely well supported and respects his father's and grandfather's achievements. It is evident that he wants to make his family proud and is motivated to do so intrinsically.
